B1 | What Is a B1 Unit?

The B1 Unit

The Trackman B1 is a portable, optically enhanced dual radar system used in baseball to track the entire ball trajectory from release to plate.

It provides instant, high-accuracy data such as exit velocity, launch angle, spin rate, and pitch movement, and is used by all MLB teams for player development, pitch design, and scouting. The B1 unit combines radar technology with optical cameras using Optically Enhanced Radar Tracking (OERT) to follow the ball’s full flight with exceptional precision.

Data is delivered instantly to an iPad, allowing players and coaches to immediately analyze velocity, break, and spin after every pitch or swing. At the same time, high-speed video can automatically be synchronized with the data, making it easy to review mechanics without requiring additional personnel or complex setup.

In essence, the B1 functions like a portable pocket radar with eyes, giving players and coaches access to MLB-level data and instant feedback on every swing or pitch.
