The TrackMan V3 External Video Clipping application is a powerful tool designed to help users create smaller video clips from game-length footage, organized by pitch and hit. This guide will walk you through the process of installing, using, and managing your video clips with the application.

Installation and Setup

  1. Download the Application:

    • Visit teamportal.trackmanbaseball.com and log in with your account.
    • Scroll down to the “External Video Application” section and click “Download External Video Installer.”
    • Save the installer on your computer, preferably on the C drive.
  2. Install the Application:

    • Navigate to the saved installer file and double-click to begin installation.
    • Follow the prompts to complete the installation process.
    • Once installed, you will find a shortcut on your desktop labeled “External Video.”
  3. Launch the Application:

    • Double-click the “External Video” shortcut.
    • Log in using the same credentials as your TrackMan team portal account. Ensure you have an active internet connection for this step.

Clipping Process

  1. Log in and Set Up:

    • After logging in, select your venue and field, and adjust the date range to find the session you want to clip.
    • Click “Search” to locate your game session.
  2. Upload Videos:

    • On the upload screen, you can add up to six different video angles.
    • Ensure that videos are uploaded in chronological order, starting with the first pitch of the game.
  3. Scrub and Clip:

    • Use the scrubbing tool to identify key moments (Pitch Release, Hit, or Cross-Plate) for clipping.
    • Select the appropriate clipping moment for each camera angle, beginning with the first pitch.
  4. Complete Clipping:

    • Click “Clip” to start the clipping process. A progress bar will show the remaining time.
    • Once finished, the clipped videos will be saved locally on your PC.

Post-Clipping and Video Management

  • Uploading Clips:

    • The application will automatically attempt to upload the clips to the TrackMan cloud if connected to the internet.
    • Check the upload status under the “Past Sessions” tab.
  • Retrieving Clips via API:

    • Once uploaded, the clips are available for retrieval from the TrackMan Baseball Data API.
    • The clips can be accessed using the PlayID as a unique identifier, ensuring easy matching with ball-tracking data.
